9/11 Families United Celebrates President Biden’s Executive Order Ordering a Full Declassification Review of 9/11-Related Documents
Biden directive follows the approach of the September 11 Transparency Act.
| Washington, D.C. – 9/11 Families United released the following statement celebrating President Joe Biden’s Executive Order mandating a full declassification review of 9/11-related investigatory files: “We are thrilled to see the President forcing the release of more evidence about Saudi connections to the 9/11 Attacks,” said Terry Strada, whose husband, Tom, was killed in the World Trade Center. “We have been fighting the FBI and intelligence community for too long, but this looks like a true turning point.” Strada continued, “There is much more work to be done to secure justice for our murdered loved ones and to rectify the immense damage the 20-year shroud of secrecy has caused, but we now are optimistic that President Biden will be helping us achieve those goals. Sen. Menendez told us that Congress sometimes has to jolt the White House into action and we’re pleased that President Biden took notice. We all thank Sen. Menendez and the other senators for their leadership.” As background, the September 11 Transparency Act, currently moving through Congress, would require a full declassification of files relating to the 9/11 investigation. Strada and other 9/11 family members participated in the announcement of the legislation at a Capitol Hill ceremony last month, in which Senators Robert Menendez, Richard Blumenthal, and Chuck Schumer all demanded greater transparency.
